The integrated Bachelor’s–Master’s pathway— Bachelor’s (Conflict Studies and Human Rights) and Master’s (Security and Defence) — allows students to complete both an undergraduate and a graduate program in a shorter timeframe than the standard, separate pathways.
The Conflict Studies and Human Rights and Security and Defence programs are particularly well suited to the implementation of such a pathway, for two main reasons. First, in its current format, the Master’s program in Security and Defence Studies (course option) is already designed to be completed in one year (two academic terms). Second, the Bachelor’s program in Conflict Studies and Human Rights is currently structured in a fairly balanced way (6 credits of foundational training, 36 credits of required courses, 9 credits of elective courses, and 39 credits of free electives). The proposed pathway reduces only the number of free elective credits, from 39 to 9. This reduction (from 13 to 3 courses) nevertheless preserves students’ ability to explore subjects and topics outside their core disciplinary training. In our view, this is an important component of university education and is fully compatible with the proposed pathway.
Our program explores the causes and consequences of the many armed conflicts that persist around the world and brings you to objectively reflect on issues such as human rights, war, peace, international security and much more.
If you're interested in understanding the fascinating complexity of conflict studies and human rights, this program is the perfect fit for you!

If you're interested in understanding the fascinating complexity of conflict studies and human rights, this program is the perfect fit for you! Co-operative education is not available with this program. This pathway will be reserved for the master with course option, so that it can be completed within four years.
This program is offered in both French and English.
- Admission to a dual fast-track degree program does not guarantee entry into the master’s program.
- The minimum cumulative grade point average required for good academic standing is 8.
