In modern times, humanistic learning and technology have often been cast as separate domains. But in our new digital world, these divisions no longer hold. One of the fundamental premises of digital humanities is that culture and technology are interactive and interdependent. By using and developing digital tools and applying them to information, we can enhance our knowledge and understanding of human culture and technology.

The 12 course-unit option in digital humanities will allow you to develop competencies to explore enduring questions about human culture by using digital tools creatively and critically to gather, mine, organize, visualize and disseminate information. These competences can be applied across all areas in the arts and humanities, and beyond.

This option can be integrated into most of the B.A and B.Sc. programs of the Faculty of Arts.

What is a transdisciplinary option?

Transdisciplinary options are microcredentials that allow you to tailor your degree and develop competencies outside of your Honours BA, Major or Minor. These thematic microcredentials range from 9 to 18 course units and can be taken from your electives. Options can be added to most of the B.A. and B.Sc. programs at the Faculty of Arts and the name of the option will appear on your transcript. Adding one or several options to your degree allows you to be the architect of your degree and develop additional competencies beyond your fields of study.

The table below includes only the option-specific courses. Please refer to the Academic Regulations for information on the possible combinations available within the Faculty of Arts.
